Who Is The Hall of Fame?
In May of 1982, J.T. "Bud" Simpson of Everett, a long time member of the Seattle Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, and local coaching legend, Jim Ennis contacted a few local football enthusiasts to form a committee. After several meetings and much work, the NFFH of F granted Chapter recognition to Snohomish County on September 9, 1982. The first banquet followed in December.

For the first nine Scholar Athlete Banquets, we were with the National organization. However, in 1991, the Snohomish County Football Hall of Fame was formed to strengthen our economic and cultural ties to our region. In 2003 we have again changed our name to the Snohomish County Football Official’s Hall of Fame. Our purpose, goals and participants remain the same. That is, to support and reward young football scholars in the greater Snohomish and Island Counties in a positive fashion and to provide incentive for tomorrow’s scholar athletes to achieve high ideals.

Since our inception we've awarded over $50,000 in scholarships to help further the academics of young scholar athletes as they become the future leaders of our communities.

To accomplish this goal, the "Hall of Fame" sponsors an annual banquet where nominated athletes - a back and lineman from 25 high schools gather to celebrate. The highlight of the banquet occurs when the scholarships are presented to several outstanding recipients.

Because of the generous support from local businesses, your donations and the annual fundraising golf tournament, the SCFOA Hall of Fame is available to high school student athletes in Snohomish & Island Counties.

Our Purpose
The purpose of the Snohomish County Football Hall of Fame Committee is to support high school football scholars in a positive fashion and reward their academic, athletic, leadership and citizenship abilities by providing incentives to young scholar athletes so then can strive to achieve high ideals in the future.

To accomplish the goal of supporting high school football scholars in a positive fashion, the SCFOHF committee has sponsored an annual banquet since 1982 honoring scholar athletes from high schools throughout Snohomish and Island counties. The highlight of the banquet occurs when scholarships are presented to several outstanding recipients from the scholar athletes that are nominated.

The scholarships, which are provided as an incentive to further the athlete’s educational endeavors, are based on four areas of achievement. These multiple criteria are meant to look at the recipient’s level of performance in the areas of:

  • Scholastic Accomplishments
  • Athletic Participation
  • Leadership in extra-curricular school activities
  • Citizenship in non-school related activities
  • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of attitude, scholarship, citizenship and contributions to his school, family and community.

How It Works
Each year, the Snohomish County Football Officials Hall of Fame awards scholarships to local Scholar-Athletes. The process begins at the end of the season when athletes are nominated by their coaches. Each school is represented by two players: a back and a lineman.

A selection committee then performs the difficult task of narrowing the list of nominations down to the five award winners. The winners will be presented scholarship awards at our annual Hall of Fame Banquet with their parents and coach. You can see a brochure of the event by clicking here.

Nominees must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a senior
  • Must have high scholastic achievements (GPA)
  • One back and one lineman will be nominated by coach from each school
  • Should be active in school affairs, leadership, clubs, etc.
  • Should have off-campus activities (community service) attesting to their being well-rounded individuals

All scholar-athletes will receive the following:

  • Nominee, parents & head coach are provided dinner.
  • Nominee, will receive a plaque and certificate of recognition.
  • One scholarship will awarded to an outstanding lineman or back from the U.S. Military/Schireman award.
  • Two Scholarships will be awarded to the outstanding lineman and back as selected from the nominated scholar athletes.
  • Two Scholarships will also be awarded to each runner-up lineman and back.

Photos of each scholar athlete will be taken by Bennison's Photo and will be available for purchase.

Nomination Deadline
Coaches must have nominations turned into the "Hall of Fame" committee by a date set in November each year (3 weeks prior to event date). For the exact date please contact please contact Jim Carter at (425) 327.5732.

Because of the generous support from local businesses, your donations and the annual fundraising golf tournament, the Snohomish County Football Officials Hall of Fame is available to high school student athletes in Snohomish & Island Counties.
